Endodontics
Endodontics, also known as root canal treatment, is a discipline for treating problems associated with root canals.
It involves removing infected, damaged or dead pulp. The pulp is the soft tissue inside the tooth that consists of capillaries and nerves.
Bacteria that penetrate this part of the tooth can lead to the formation of an abscess.
Examples of bacterial penetration are deep caries, cracks or severe gum disease.
Shocks during accidents or severe bruxisme can also cause the pulp to die. If the canals are not treated in these cases, an abscess can lead to serious oral and general health problems.
Endodontists are the dentists specialising in this field to manage all endodontic cases, particularly complex and unusual cases.
Case management begins with diagnosis, and continues with planning the various alternatives, their prognosis, and carrying out the treatment of choice. These treatments are carried out using the operating microscope, with magnification of up to 40 times.
Re-treatment of root canals or Re-endo
Canal treatment is successful in most cases. If it is not successful, a second operation is required.
During this procedure, the old root canal filling will be removed in order to disinfect the canal and perform a new root canal filling.
Root microsurgery or apical resection
Microsurgery for apical resection becomes necessary when conventional root canal treatment or its revision has been unsuccessful or is impossible to carry out.
This microsurgery involves removing a part of the root that could not be disinfected during conventional treatment.
During this procedure, the infectious lesion associated with this part will also be removed and the end of this canal will be filled.
All advanced endodontic procedures are carried out in our practice.
